FAQ’s

What is Tampere Toastmasters?

Tampere Toastmasters is part of the global Toastmasters organization. We help you to get over your fear of public speaking, provide a learning space or take your leadership skills to the next level! Toastmasters help you get over this fear by practicing!

We organize meetings with various roles that enable you to speak for as much or as little as you want in a safe and supportive environment. You can give a prepared speech, evaluate others, give an impromptu speech, manage the meeting or control the times, among many others!

What language are the meeting conducted in?

Our club meetings, communications, and events are fully in English. We come from diverse backgrounds. Some of us are native English speakers, and others are not.

Don’t let your English level stop you from joining in. All levels of public speaking and the English domain are welcome. This is a place to improve your skills, not to test them!

When and where do you have meeting?

Our meetings happen once every second Thursday. We meet at Platform 6 in Tampere, Finland but our meetings are also hybrid. You can join us online. We usually have guests and visitors from Canada, Germany, India, or Sri Lanka!

We start at 18:00h and end around 19:30-20h. However, we encourage you to show up a bit earlier, around 17:50, to get to know the community better and ask any burning questions.

How can I join and become a Toastmaster?

If it’s your first time hearing about Toastmasters and want to know what this is all about, you are most welcome to join, as a guest, one of our regular meetings.

If you are already convinced of joining our community, write us an email at tampere@toastmasters.fi and our Vice President of Membership will get started with the registration process and with the path towards becoming a better public speaker.

Is this free or is there a membership cost?

There is a membership cost. Toastmasters is a non-profit organization, and the cost of the membership is solely destined to pay for maintaining the organization, funding some material used in our club, educational resources, and creating fun events for our members. Thus, the organization does not make any profit from your membership.

For more information about the fee, send us a message.
